SUMMARY:Global Day of Parents
DESCRIPTION:The Global Day of Parents is observed on the 1st of June every 
 year. The Day was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 2012 with resol
 utionA/RES/66/292 and honours parents throughout the world. The Global Day
  provides an opportunity to appreciate all parents in all parts of the wor
 ld for their selfless commitment to children and their lifelong sacrifice 
 towards nurturing this relationship.\n\nIn its resolution\, the General As
 sembly also noted that the family has the primary responsibility for the n
 urturing and protection of children and that children\, for the full and h
 armonious development of their personality\, should grow up in a family en
 vironment and in an atmosphere of happiness\, love and understanding.\n\nT
 he resolution recognizes the role of parents in the rearing of children an
 d invites Member States to celebrate the Day in full partnership with civi
 l society\, particularly involving young people and children.\n\n[button l
