DESCRIPTION:In 1996 the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed that 7 D
 ecember was to be the International Civil Aviation Day[1]\n\nThe day had b
 een celebrated by the International Civil Aviation Organization since 7 De
 cember 1994\, the 50th anniversary of the signing theConvention on Interna
 tional Civil Aviation.[1]\n\nFollowing the adoption of the resolution\, th
 e delegate from the United Kingdom stated the view that the decision for h
 olding of an International Civil Aviation Day did not fall within these gu
 idelines\, and that the scarce resources of the United Nations should not 
 be used to support interpretation\, printing and other associated costs th
