SUMMARY:International Day of Forests
DESCRIPTION:International Day of Forests\, observed for the first time on M
 arch 21\, 2013\, was established by resolution of the United Nations Gener
 al Assembly on November 28\, 2012.[1] To be held each year on the 21st day
  of March\, the Day celebrates and raises awareness of the importance of a
 ll types of forests and trees outside forests for the benefit of current a
 nd future generations.[2][3] On each International Day of Forests\, countr
 ies are encouraged to undertake local\, national and international efforts
  to organize activities involving forests and trees\, such as tree plantin
 g campaigns. The General Assembly requested the Secretariat of the United 
 Nations Forum on Forests\, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture 
 Organization of the United Nations\, to facilitate the implementation of t
 he International Day of Forests\, in collaboration with governments\, the 
 Collaborative Partnership on Forests and international\, regional and subr
