An eastern journey to school leadership
As soon as you enter Dane Royd Junior and Infant School in Wakefield, you are transported on a visual journey around the world. The school is decorated with Chinese fans and masks from Longjiang Road and Hongpailou, their partner schools in the Sichuan capital, Chengdu; a nursery language assistant is reciting ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ in French; and a Chinese classroom assistant is leading a traditional tai chi class in the gym hall.
Dane Royd is an ISA accredited school. By incorporating the Connecting Classrooms global themes, ethos and skills into everything they do, the programme has made an obvious impact both on the curriculum and in teachers’ self-development.
