Liz Lochhead reads her poem ‘the man in the comic strip’ in the Lajee Centre, the arts and community centre in Aida refugee camp, Bethlehem. This video was recorded during our 4 day stay in Aida in June 2012 as part of a tour of the West Bank.
The upcoming documentary WORDS : WALLS, from which this is taken, follows the group of poets and signers – including Liz, William Letford, Henry King & Gillebride Macmillan – as they travelled around the West Bank, witnessing the effects of the Israeli occupation on peoples lives and meeting Palestinians, all of them resisting in whatever ways they could.
This video has been especially put together for World Poetry Day, 21st March 2013.
